SUCCESSES
1980 Involved in a new concept of care for the elderly in developing an acute rehabilitation service in Leeds, (Leeds General infirmary).
1982 Developed an out patient service for industrial hand injuries and orthopaedics, and introduced orthotics to the Occupational Therapy Department at Leeds General Infirmary.
1990 Initiated group neuro-rehabilitation sessions for out-patient adults, covering areas such as Social Skills, Life Skills, Memory, Work Skills and physical treatment, Leeds General Infirmary and Chapel Allerton Hospital.
1992 Successful in returning 75% 0f head injury patients back to their original work areas. High proportion of post head and spinal injury sufferers were introduced and succeeded in further education.
1995 Led a team of Occupational Therapists in a management project, acquiring accreditation at Leeds General Infirmary in excellence in clinical supervision of students.
1996 Involved in a BBC documentary about patients suffering short-term memory loss as a result of traumatic head injury.
Appointed regional Occupational Therapist for St Dunstan’s Charity for blind ex-servicemen and women.
1998 Appointed Regional Therapy Manager of a multi-disciplinary team of
Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Dieticians and Podiatrists; initiated the development of a rehabilitation unit in Park Lodge Nursing Home in Leeds, the first of its kind in the area.
Developed a Dementia Care package for nursing homes in Leeds, to include
training activities organisers and care staff.
1998 Improved management of Stroke clients in the nursing home environment and provided stroke rehabilitation training packages
